Spongey Monkey said, "Wow! Jacob and Caleb's old band is on this comp. Some of the stuff is so lo-fi, it's funny. My favorite track is Ferd Mert's 'Barbeque' with its generic hardcore and the out of nowhere stop comes, 'Just fucking cook!' Me and Matt lost it. We died laughing. Check out Ham(?) who plays all in Spanish. Fun comp! Wish I would have put this together. Skip a few Rancid, pop-punk tracks, you know it's a comp. There are a few stinkers."

Dirt Culture said, "Tired of well-produced, slick music prettily packaged in bubblegum pop? Then this compilation is for you! Each track sounds like it came straight from (insert any obscure punk rock band's name here)'s garage-recorded demo. It's raw, fast (translation: most of the songs clock in at under 2 minutes and, with eighteen tracks total, the whole album is 23:31 long), and as DIY as you can get. The guy who put it all together put all the songs on tape first, then put the tape on CD-R, so this isn't as high quality as a studio recording. Ok, it's far from being even close to professional, but it's fun-so, who cares? If you like a bit of abuse, dirty humor, misspelled liner notes, and the novelty of listening to something real...here it is. Most of the bands sound pretty similar, but it's over before you can even groan. I think the last track by Your Mother called "Touchy-Feely" is the best-now that might be because it signified the end of the album. Alright, I am gonna cut through the shite (yes, Trainspotting lingo!)-I didn't like this album. But, I got it for free, so I can't complain too much. If you want it, then I'll give it to you."

Toxic Flyer Fan Zine said, "A compilation with various style of core and punk music featuring songs by IMPACT WRENCH, SECTION 8, HAM, BIG BUBBA, THE INFECTED, THOUGHT PROCESS, and more."

Enough Fanzine said, "Very sympathetic label sampler from that US-DIY punk label Smart Ass Records. Only band I am familiar with is Ferd Mert and this pretty much is it. But, hell, I’m open for new bands, especially if they are able to play straight no compromise punk rock and most bands really do. Yiiiihaaa. It’s just, the sound quality is beneath the usual level. But I really do not care. Its punk. So I best shut my face. 18 quite danceable tracks. 6 bucks incl. Ppd!"

Mutant Renegade Zine said, "Yet another Punk compilation to wade through...but, hey, this one's pretty interesting. I don't think I've heard of any of the bands on it either. Many of the tracks are really loose, extremely short garage style Punk Rock, but I don't want to give the impression that they're shitty. I got a kick out of Section 8's Let's Skate. I enjoyed Mart!ans' Take Her Back. I Hate Gym by Sound Spasm was absolutely silly (in a good way). Pocket Protector did Our First Song which was totally whacked! I think my favorite cut was Floz's Girls Are Dumb. The vocalist for Ferd Mert sounded frighteningly like Ben Schelker, (the deceased singer of Dayton, OH band !The Oxymorons) and their song Barbeque clocked in at a wee 38 seconds. This CD is only $6 postage paid, so it might be worth your while to check out. {Tom CoreKill}"

Slug & Lettuce said, "This is a comp put out by Smart Ass Records. it contains 18 bands of mostly the fast hardcore persuasion. Some of the bands are Big Bubba, Ferd Mert, Toilet Creatures, VOC, Sound Spasm plus 13 more. All in all a good comp. As in most comps the record quality varies, but most of the songs are pretty good."

206 records said, "Fast as hell songs with catchy choruses. It also has one of Chris206's bands on it too so buy it damn it."

Windspitting Punk Newsletter said, "A really good 'first' CD put out by Cottage Grove Minnesota's Smartass Records. Highlights include songs from Floz, Impact Wrench, Section 8, and more. A damned fine CD!"

S.C.A.B. said, "18 bands. Most of songs are about one minute long, most of songs are recorded live, most of songs are fast as hell, filed with raw energy...PUNK AS FUCK! Favorites: Mart!ans, Big Bubba, Floz (great songs!), Your Mother, Section 8..Smart Ass are our sponsors, so go ahead and buy this compilation!"

Jesse from Smother E-Zine said, "Well, thank god that there's an apology in the liners on this comp about how bad the quality is. Cause it's horrible. I never thought I'd find a bad comp, but here you go. There were 2 (count 'em) songs on here that I liked, Floz's "Girls Are Dumb" and Your Mother's "Touchy Feely." Everything else either had the sound quality of shit or the musicianship of shit. So there you go. I'm not recommending it."

World Wide Punk said, "18 bands. 18 Songs. 22 Minutes of madness. This probably will not put you to sleep since most of these songs are so short and fast. The songs all tend to be very stripped down and simple punk rock. Actually, the quality of many of these songs sound like demo recordings, and others are live. Basically, if you only like clean, radio-friendly punk you'll probably hate this. But if you don't mind hearing some new stuff by a whole bunch of lesser-known bands, you might like it. Styles found here range from melodic skate punk to fast'n'crazy hardcore. Some personal highlights include songs by Section 8, Sound Spasm (who have named themselves perfectly), Suburban Core, Floz, and the most screwed-up Ferd Mert song I've ever heard. Overall it's not bad, but you'll probably end up skipping past some of the really unlistenable songs. You can get this CD (and other stuff) for $6 from Smart Ass Records".

Street Junk Zine said, "This comp is pretty crazy. Smart Ass Records is crazy! 18 tracks on this comp, with bands, Impact Wrench, Toilet Creatures, Sound Spasm, V.O.C, Ferd Mert, and Your Mother. This comp doesn't have the best sound quality but most of the bands on it are pretty talented. I think you can get this comp for 6 bucks from Smart Ass Records."

Kevin at Bandindex said, "smart ass records has delivered a 18 song compilation of pure punk mayhem, some of the best punk i've heard in awhile the only problem i find with the disc is the songs are rather short only a couple songs break the two minute mark but the songs are still worth hearing it's definatly punk at its best , i would pick some of the bands that stand out the most but they all knock you on your ass so i'll name them all Impact Watch, Section 8, Ham, Mart!ans, Toilet Creatures, Idiot Bitch, Big Bubba, The Infected, Sound Spam, Suburban Core, The Redheaded Stepchildren, Pocket Protector, V.O.C., Floz, Missing Image, Ferd Mert, Thought Process, Your Mother . if punk is what hungers you look no further get you a big hearty helping of smart ass records there album will fill you up more than your grandmothers cooking on thanksgiving"

Faber at Wet Devoh said, "18 songs from this Minnesota label. Most of this stuff is really good. By far this album is filled with 'Punkier' stuff, some which sounds like it was recorded live. This album's variety is definitely its strongest point. The bands include Toilet Creatures (mush core?), Mart!ans (punk), The Redheaded Stepchildren (emo), and Thought Process (hard core), to name a few. The Thought Process song is about the most hardcore sounding song I have ever heard. Spend a couple of bones and write to: frodo@bitsream.net, Smart Ass Records, P.O. Box 71, Cottage Grove, MN, 55016."

Perkey Breasts and Kittens Zine said, "Smart Ass Records puts out a kickass compilation. This comp includes Your Mother, Martians, and 16 other bands. This is mainly a hardcore comp. but it also includes some other sounds and the big plus is it is only $6.00 to boot. A must have from this new record company."

Skrutt Zine said (umlowts go in certain spots), "En samling med 18 latar och lika manga band pa mindre an 24 minuter men da ar det anda inte kang eller grind det handlar om utan det ar manga ganger riktigt melodisk punk det handlar om istallet. Section 8, Martians, Floz, Men det ar tyvarr for manga band som faller i fallan att spela for fort eller for att ha for dalig inspelning pa sina latar, hem och arbeta igen sa det ar inte manga som far godkant tyvarr aven om det handlar om punk(FEM)"

Schuell said, "This comp. has it's heart in the right place. Some hardcore, some pop, some..well some music. A lot of live stuff, which was sort of bad, because a lot of it was indecernable and inaudiable. The cost is only six dollars though, so how could you go wrong? Includes: Impact Wrench, Section 8, HAM, Mart!ans, Toilet Creatures, Idiot Bitch (great stuff!!), Big Bubba, The Infected, Sound Spasm, Suburban Core, The Redheaded Stepchildren (cool name), Pocket Protector, V.O.C., Floz, Missing Image, Ferd Mert (St. Paulie gods!), Thought Process, and Probe heroes Your Mother."

Motion Sickness said, "This is crap. A bunch of bands I've never heard of (except YOUR MOTHER) and the recordings are bad, the levels are all uneven, the mastering is shitty. I couldn't fall asleep to it cause it's so bad it would annoy me to the point where I'd have to get up and throw the CD against the wall. I would be so mad if I paid money for this."
